<br />370 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />FEBHUARY 23, 1965 <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of City Manager Hirst, Council authorized the executing <br /> <br />(by appropriate City officials) of a deed of exchange between the City and <br /> <br />Lester Lumber Company, Inc., whereby some 2,900 square feet of right-of-way <br /> <br />along the northwest side of East Church street (Houte 58) owned by the City <br /> <br />is to be deeded to Lester Lumber Company in exchange for some 2,100 square <br /> <br />feet of property owned by said Lester Lumber Company, these tracts being <br /> <br />located near the Fairy Street intersection and being involved in the recent <br /> <br />'w:dening and improving of East Church Street (Haute 58) at this point. <br /> <br />Upon requests of Davis Feed & Seed Company, Council granted this firm <br /> <br />permission to connect to the City's water and sewer system this firm's new <br /> <br />building on the north side of Route 220 South, near the Smith River Bridge, <br /> <br />by connecting to the sewer line adjacent to this new building and to extend <br /> <br />a water line from a metering point off Riverview Court, all being subject to <br /> <br />required connection fees and to the Ci tyl s prevailing tariffs and regul9:tions <br /> <br />or as they may be amended. City Manager Hirst informed Council that the <br /> <br />water supply line on Riverview Court is presently inadequate to serve present <br /> <br />customers on this street and that at some time larger mains should be installed. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, and pursuant to the Council1s <br /> <br />policy governing the contracting for annual required audits of the Cityts <br /> <br />records, the Council requested the Auditor of Public Accounts for the Common- <br /> <br />wealth of Virginia to conduct the required audit for the fiscal year ending <br /> <br />June 30, 1965. <br /> <br />Council referred to City Manager Hirst and the Public Works Department a <br /> <br />complaint registered by Mr. C. B. Scott, operation of a restaurant at 239 <br /> <br />Broad Street, as to the condition of a sidewalk at that location or nearby. <br />
