<br />3e <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br />-- <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 9. 1965 <br /> <br />equipment would cost from '$2,700.00 to $3,300.00 and the annual operating cost <br /> <br />would be approximately $2,100.00 and, further, that this proposal carries the <br /> <br />endorsement of not only the local dental society but also that of the <br /> <br />Martinsville-Henry County Health Department. Council instructed City Attorney <br /> <br />Cubine to prepare such ordinance or resolution as necessary, for Councilts <br /> <br />consideration, should the Council wish to comply with this request. <br /> <br />,.",..-... <br /> <br />Captain L'3wis W. Thomasson, of the local National Guard and Chairman of the <br /> <br />National Guard Armory Advisory Committee established November 10, 1964, <br /> <br />presented to Council an outline of the Committee's proposal for the control <br /> <br />and usage of the new National Guard Armory building. This outline was offered <br /> <br />for Councilts consideration and suggestions. <br /> <br />On behalf of the heirs of the J. W. Jones Estate, Mrs. Catherine Jones Goode <br /> <br />(by letter) requested the rezoning of the Jones property--at 320 East Church <br /> <br />Street--from "R-6 Residential1l to rrp-1 Professional". This request was referred <br /> <br />to the Planning Commission for its consideration and recommendation. <br /> <br />After receiving a request from the Dunlap Volunteer Fire Company, of Alleghany <br /> <br />County, Virginia, that the City donate to this fire company the City's 1924 <br /> <br />American-Lafrance Fire Engine for "antique" purposes, Council learned that <br /> <br />some local interest has developed along this line; whereupon, Council held in <br /> <br />abeyance any action on this request pending receipt of additional information <br /> <br />from local sources. <br /> <br />-. <br /> <br />Upon recolnmendation of City Manager Hirst, Council authorized the transfer of <br /> <br />$50.00 from the City's General Emergency Account to the budget of the Building <br />
