Council <br /> <br /> <br />suggested that Mr. Anglin present his proposal in writing and include therein <br /> <br /> <br />the amount of franchise tax and other fees he would care to offer. <br /> <br />Mr. Rives ,So Brown, Jr., on behalf of himself and nine other persons, <br /> <br />appeared before Council and requested the rezoning from 11.-9 to R-6 of a <br /> <br />six-acre tract of land located on Fairy Street Extension (Northside Drive), <br /> <br />on which land these persons hold a purchase option from Lester Lumber Company <br /> <br />and on which land they would propose to build and operate a fifty-bed Tlnursing <br /> <br />homeTl. Council referred this request to the Planning Commission for its <br /> <br /> <br />consideration and recommendation. <br /> <br />By letter dated February 9, 1965, Mr. George W. Lester, II, on behalf of <br /> <br />Lester Lumber Company, Inc., requested Council to proceed with the establishing <br /> <br />of plans for the construction of a bridge over the Carolina & Northwestern <br /> <br />Railway as an extension of Fairy Street. Mr. Lester referred to an action of <br /> <br />Council taken November 14, 1950, in which reference was made to such a bridge <br /> <br />in connection with property purchased by the City from Lester Lumber Company <br /> <br />for the City's raw water storage reservoir and, as a separate matter, in <br /> <br />which reference was made to the offer of Lester Lumber Company to donate <br /> <br />right-of-way for the present Northside Drive and the present Armory Hoad. <br /> <br />Dr. H. Marvin Midkiff, on behalf of the Patrick-Henry Dental Society, appeared <br /> <br />before Council and urged Council to take such action as would permit and <br /> <br /> <br />require the fluoridating of the City's public water supply in accordance with <br /> <br />accepted or authorized procedures.
