J,64

TUESDAY

FEBRUARY 9,1965

Inspector's office to provide funds for the purchase of a file cabinet.

City Manager Hirst notified Council that preliminary work on the City's

forthcoming 1965-66 Budget is now in process.

Council acknowledged receipt of a petition from Messrs. Graves Wampler,

Thomas H. Myers, and S. M. Hedgecock, owners of property along and on

Hampstead Place, requesting the constructing by the City (on a shared-cost

basis) of curb-and-gutter on and along this steeet, preferably at the same

time the City constructs curb-and-gutter on a section of Sam Lion Trail with

an area nearby.

Mr. T. J. Childress, Jr., as agent for Fralin & Waldron, Inc., requested the

rezoning from "R-6 Residential" to "P-1 Professional" of a tract of land

located on Fairy Street Extension. Council referred this matter to the

Planning Commission for its consideration and recommendation.

Council noted that original plans--presented to the Building Inspection

Department--for construction of a building off Franklin Street for Sale

Knitting Company indicated the use of non-combustible materials for floor

construction whereas the builders and/or owners now wish to use a different

material of the type that would change the classification of the building to

the extent that same would be in violation of the City's Building Code.

Council took no action on this matter except to indicate concurrence with

the enforcing of the Building Code1s requirements.

Council was adjourned.

)
VI.
