<br />.~ <br /> <br />r- <br /> <br />,- <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />AUGUST 25, 1964 <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of City Manager Hirst, Council adopted the following <br /> <br />ordinance amending the City's Zoning Code to eliminate an unnecessary <br /> <br />duplication of yard specifications, as follows: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled this twenty-fifth day of August, 1964, <br />that the front yard and rear yard minimum requirements listed under <br />colunm llC-311 of sub-paragraph 1 of paragraph A of Section VI of the <br />Zoning Ordinance of the City of Martinsville be and are hereby deleted. <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst informed Council that there has been recently discovered <br /> <br />the requirement by the State Department of Health, in connection with the <br /> <br />construction of the new Health Center on the Armory Road (Lester Boulevard), <br /> <br />whereby the City of Martinsville and/or the County of Henry must finance the <br /> <br />total cost of constructing the new Health Center, with reimbursement by <br /> <br />the State and Federal Governments--as to their shares--subject to audit. <br /> <br />At the suggestion of City Manager Hirst, Council agreed to the procedure <br /> <br />whereby the City of Martinsville will be responsible for payment of all bills <br /> <br />in connection with this construction, subject to payment at an appropriate <br /> <br />time by the County of Henry as to its share and subject to reimbUrsement by <br /> <br />the State and Federal Governments as to their shares. <br /> <br />Pursuant to recommendation of City Manager Hirst, Council adopted the following <br /> <br />revision and amendment to the City's curb-and-gutter policy: <br /> <br />Where there exists a parcel of land abutting a street for which <br />curb-and gutter and/or sidewalk is requested, which parcel of <br />land is not designated as a building lot on a duly-recorded plat <br />and is not of adequate dimensions to allow for the construction <br />of a 13ingle-family dwelling or building in accordance with the <br />Ci tY':3 Zoning Code and/or applicable City building standards, such <br />pRrcel of land shall be assessed at a rate of thirty-five cents <br />(35r) per lineal foot of frontage measured along the street <br />right-of-way line. <br />
