<br />)4 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />ATJGUST 25, 1964 <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of Mr. John J. Hartley, Commonwealth's Attorney for <br /> <br />the City of Martinsville, and of Policy Chief Emory J. Bolejack, Council <br /> <br />adopted the following two amendments and/or revisions of cited sections of <br /> <br />the City Code, causing the City Code to conform respectively with statutes <br /> <br />enacted by the 1964 General Assembly: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, in regular meeting assembled this 25th day of August, <br />1964, that Section 10-8 of Chapter 10 of the Code of the City <br />of Martinsville be amended and revised by replacing Section <br />10-8 thereof with the following: <br /> <br />Sec. 10-8 - Drunkenness. <br /> <br />If any person arrived at the age of discretion gets or <br />is drunk in public, he shall be deemed guilty of a <br />misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be fined <br />not less and one dollar nor more than twenty-five dollars. <br /> <br />If any person shall be convicted for being drunk in <br />public three times within one year, upon the third or <br />any subsequent conviction for such offense within the <br />period of one year, such person may be punished by <br />imprisonment in jail for not more than six months or <br />by a fine of not more than fifty dollars or by both <br />such fine and imprisonment. <br /> <br />An emergency existing, this ordinance shall be in force from <br />date of adoption. <br /> <br />Virginia Code reference 18.1-237 <br /> <br />(SEE INSERT) <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of--and ordered filed for future consideration-- <br /> <br />a petition requesting the construction of curb-and-gutter (on a shared-cost <br /> <br />basis) along Fourth Street, from Roundabout Road to IIAIl Street, and a <br /> <br />petition requesting the construction of curb-and-gutter (on a shared-cost basis) <br /> <br />along Lakeview Trail. <br /> <br />Council also acknowledged receipt of the following bids for the construction <br /> <br />of a 811-to-41l sewer line to serve properties on Park Court and of b8th 811 <br />
