)4

TUESDAY

MAY 26, 1964

with the provisions regarding sewer extensions being waived.

City Manager Hirst reported that, in response to invitations, two bids

have been received for the construction of sewer lines, or extensions

thereof, along Dunlap Street, College Street, Beechnut Lane, and the

new Armory and Health Center, these bids being $11,501.00 by Prillaman

& Pace and $14,595 by Hackler-Seylllour Metal Works. Council unanimously

accepted the lower bid of Prillaman & Pace and awarded the contract to

this firm.

City Manager Hirst presented a plan sketch for development of the

Community park baseball fields; however, pending additional land-fill

operations, Mr. Hirst reported that complete development as planned

can not now be undertaken and, meanwhile, recommended the re-lighting

of a ball diamond nearby for usage until the plan can be carried out.

Council, therefore, authorized the immediate purchase of such lighting

equipment as will be needed, and the installation thereof as soon as possible,

to provide a lighted ball diamond for usage until such time as original plans

can be effected, authorizing also the transfer of $6,500 from the highway

account to finance the cost of lighting the ball diamond.

Council deferred until a later date its consideration of a petition submitted

by Mrs. Sue N. Barbour, of Barbour Cadillac, for a business license tax

adjustment predicated upon the indication that she will dispose of her

interests in this firm in the near future.

Upon motion, duly seconded, Council entered into a water line extension

centract with the T. G. Burch Estate whereby the Burch Estate will extend,

at its cost, a water line along Oak Street towards Graves Street to serve

,......,~_,.,"""._"~__.....,...""......,,~,_~'"_,...~_=,..._."^..~';O,, "_,~""_"""~..~.""""".._."...."",,"~~__.,",,.~_.;~..-,,~c~.,_._~_"...,"
