Yeaman, Inc., representing prooerty ta.."'{es paid on business equipment for the year 1962, <br /> <br />which equipment W~iS not subject to local taxation but, instead, as flcanital1' by the state of <br /> <br />Virginia, as determined by the St2te Department of Taxat,ion. <br /> <br />Cit.y Ma.nager Hirst announced the awarding of ~sl,5oo.oo to Martinsville }!:emorial Public <br /> <br />Library by the Book-of-the-Month Clt:b, Inc., for the year 1963, which not only classified <br /> <br />the Martinsville Library as being one of ten libraries in the United states qualif~ling for <br /> <br />this mvard but also enabling the local library to become eligible for a first-place award of <br /> <br />:~5 , 000. <br /> <br />In response to inquiry by City Manager Hirst, Council ordered that any trailer park or court <br /> <br />located outside the corporate limit~--such c011rts presently not being permitted to locate <br /> <br />within the corporate limits--and desiring to be served by City utilities, must make <br /> <br />application to Council for such service, at which time Council will determine whether such <br /> <br />service will be f1.lrnished by the City. In the case of property owned by ~.T. George Salmons, <br /> <br />locat.ed on Cabell street just outside trle City's southeast corporate limits, Council ordered <br /> <br />that each mobile unit in this court must be served by separate connections and that all other <br /> <br />requirements by the City must first be met. In addition, Council directed that each mobile <br /> <br />unit (its OYVDer or tenant) must also deposit with the City Treasurer the utility deposits <br /> <br />anplicable to and required of res idential tenants. <br /> <br />Coundl authorizeC the renewing of a,n agreement with the D. H. Pamill Estate heirs, effective <br /> <br />Ja.!'lUary 1, 1961+, by Wl1ich the City has leased--and will lease-property on Depot Street for a <br /> <br />metered parking lot. <br /> <br />P_s inc1ica.ted in the minutes hereiribeforc pertaining to the public hearing called on the <br /> <br />}loorefield rezoning Detition, Council rescheduled its next rPf;ular meeting from December 2)lth <br />
