Lester (involving property at or near the intersection of Clearview <br /> <br />Drive and Northside Drive), on which proposals Council called for a public <br /> <br />hearing to be conducted by Coun~il at its forthcoming October 22nd meeting: <br /> <br />,- <br /> <br />Your Planning Commission, at a called public hearing of this date, <br />considered two petitions referred to them by Council for rezoning. <br />1. A petition from Mr. J. C. Aaron for the rezoning of that <br />portion of approximately 26 acres not already zoned to B-2 <br />Industrial from A-1 Residential to B-2 Industrial. <br />2. A petition from Mr. G. W. Lester for the rezoning of the <br />residue of three lots in North Martinsville from A-1 Residential <br />to B-1 Industrial. <br /> <br />On Item No.1, the Co~ission, after hearing from those members of <br />the public having an interest in this matter, voted unanimously to <br />recommend to Council that this petition be granted as stated. <br /> <br />On Item No.2, the Commission, after its duly advertised public <br />hearing, voted unanimously to recommend to Council that this <br />petition be granted as stated. It was also the Commissions <br />recommendation on Item 2 that a front-yard requirement be placed <br />on this property of 50 feet. <br /> <br />The Commission's consideration of both petitions was based pri- <br />marily on public need and interest and it is on this basis that <br />the above recommendations are made. <br /> <br />Your Commission respectfully suomits the above recommendation for <br />Council's further c0nsideration. <br /> <br />A petition filed by Mr. Charlie M. Finney, President, of Finney Homeowners, <br /> <br />....-.. <br /> <br />Inc., requesting the rezoning to "B-1 Business" of a portion of Lot 2 <br /> <br />(identified as Lot 2-A) owned by petitioner and located on the west side <br /> <br />of Liberty Street (Figsboro Road) adjacent to property owned by Frith and <br /> <br />Jamison, was referred to the Planning Commission for its consideration and <br /> <br />recommendation. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Upon request of the City School Board, and by a recorded unanimous vote, <br /> <br />Council appropriated the sum of $3,466.66 to the School Fund (for its <br /> <br />Day-Trade inst~~ction_ from a like amount of revenue anticipated from the <br /> <br />Commonwealth of Virginia. <br />
