<br />152 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JUNE 11. 1963 <br /> <br />Pursuant also to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing <br /> <br />on a proposal to amend the City's Zoning Code by a revision--previously presented <br /> <br />and recommended--of regulations governing the location, erection, and area <br /> <br />requirements of "multi-family" dwelling units or apartment houses. Council noted <br /> <br />that no one has presented any objections to the proposed amendment and, also, that <br /> <br />the Planning Commission has recommended adoption thereof; whereupon motion, duly <br /> <br />seconded and unanimously carried, Council adopted said proposed amendment in the <br /> <br />form of the following ordinance: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in <br />regular meeting assembled this eleventh day of June, 1963, that the Zoning <br />Code of the City of Martinsville be and is hereby amended, as follows: <br /> <br />PLANNING AND ZONING -- <br />Chapter 1, Section 4, Paragraph 17 (A-1 Residential District) <br />Apartment houses not to exceed three stories in height, subject <br />to the following minimum additional dimension and area requirements <br />per dwelling unit in excess of one: <br />1. Lot area .... 2,250 square feet per unit, with a minumum of <br />7,500 square feet required for one unit. <br />2. Lot width ... 4 feet per unit, in addition to a minimum of <br />75 feet lot width for one unit, with 28 feet <br />as the maximum additional required <br />3. Side yard ... 2 feet per unit, in addition to the required area <br />side yard, with 28 feet as the maximum additional <br />required and providing off-street parking for one <br />and one-half spaces per dwelling unit. On corner <br />lots the apartment building shall conform to the <br />minimum front yard requirements for the street on <br />which the building faces and shall be a minimum of <br />25 feet from the intersecting street at the side <br />of the building. <br />Chapter 1, Section 5, Paragraph 3 (A-2 Residential District) <br />Apartment houses subject to the following minimum additional <br />dimension and area requirements per dwelling unit in excess of one: <br />1. Lot area .... 1,750 square feet per unit, with a minimum of <br />6,000 square feet required for one unit <br />2. Lot width ... 3 feet per unit in addition to a minimum of 60 <br />feet lot width for one unit, \.Jith 15 feet as the <br />maximum additional required. <br />3. Side yard ... 1 foot per unit, in addition to the required area <br />side yard, with 15 feet as the maximum additional <br />required and providing off-street parking for one <br />and one-half spaces per mvelling unit. <br />On corner lots the apartment building shall conform to the minimum <br />front yard requirements for the street on which the building faces and <br />shall be a minimum of 25 feet from the intersecting street at the side <br />of the building. <br /> <br /> <br />
