<br />15: <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JUNE 11. 1963 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor J. Frank Wilson presiding, and with all members present (viz., <br /> <br />Mayor J. Frank Wilson; Dr. Fred T. Renick, Vice-Mayor; Harry L. Boaz; Thomas J. <br /> <br />Burch; and E. E. Stone), was held in the Council Chamber, City Hall, Tuesday, <br /> <br />June 11, 1963, beginning at 7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as read the minutes of its regular meeting <br /> <br />held May 28, 1963. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing on <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst's recommended budget for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1964. <br /> <br />No one present inquired into any phase of the budget and City Manager Hirst noted <br /> <br />that the budget as presented omitted certain capital outlay items for which the <br /> <br />City has already committed itself, these being as follows, in addition to funds <br /> <br />already expended: <br /> <br />New Armory . . . . . . . $ 35,000.00 <br />New Health Center 30,000.00 <br />American Legion Property 15,000.00 <br />Airport Planning 1 , 500 .00 <br />Community Park . . . . 14,000.00 <br />,_. Total $ 95.500.00 <br /> <br />In connection therewith, City Manager Hirst informed Council that these items and <br /> <br />this amount can now be included in the proposed budget and be financed by a <br /> <br />reduction of $18,000 in the budget as first presented--as directed by Council-- <br /> <br />and by unanticipated additional revenue. Council continued the budget for further <br /> <br />study. <br />
