~

TUESDAY

AUGUST 14. 1962

,..--

Council deferred fillin~ two vacancies on the Planning Commission,

baus~d by the recent resignations of Messrs. S. M. Hedgecock and

Stafford G. Whittle, III.

/...--.

Property owners residing on Clarke Road within a distance of 375

feet north of the intersection of Sherwood Place and Clarke Road,

by petition, sought Council's approval of that section for curb-and-

gutter as a part of the Clarke Road curb-and-gutter project already

approved for 1962-63; however, Council determined that this additional

section would have to be considered in the 1963-64 schedule because of

current funds already having been allocated.

City Manager Hirst informed Council that bids will be received

September 5, 1962, for the Mulberry Creek Sewerage System project

and, also, that the State Water Control Board has approved for

allocation to the City of $154,000 from the Federal Government,

pending the filing of a formal application therefor and approval

of said application, which sum can be applied to the cost of major

-

sewer outfall lines.

Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously

carried, Council authorized City Manager Hirst to execute and file

such an application.

,.-

City Manager Hirst also informed Council that a special committee

has nearly completed its study towards revising the City's Plumbing

Code and that decision should be made by Council prior to its

adopting the new code as to whether inspection by City personnel

of plumbing installations--water and sewer--in properties outside

the corporate limits where connected to the City's systems shall be

required.
