<br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JUNE 12, 1962 <br /> <br />~- <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of citizens of the North Moss Street area, the local U. S. <br /> <br />Postmaster, and representatives of the City, Council rescinded its action of <br /> <br />April 24, 1962, in designating certain names for streets in the area and, further, <br /> <br />officially ordered that the following names be in force: <br /> <br />Street Area <br /> <br />Designated ~ <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />(a) from West Church Street north to Liberty Street North Moss Street <br /> <br />(b) street on first left of North Moss Street <br />proceeding north from Fayette Street <br /> <br />George Street <br /> <br />(c) street on second left of North Moss Street <br />proceeding north from Fayette Street <br /> <br />Townes Avenue <br /> <br />Coumil received from City Manager Hirst a sketch and outline of streets in the <br /> <br />central busimss district from which designated parking meters are proposed to <br /> <br />be removed, numbering some twenty-five to twenty-seven neters, as well as certain <br /> <br />other recommendations in cormection therewith, Council tentatively concurring <br /> <br />with the proposed removal of these neters pendirg actual viewing of the streets <br /> <br />and locations. Meanwhile, Mr. J. L. Adams, manager of tffi H. L. Green store <br />located at 26 Franklin Street, requested that he and other concerned merchants <br /> <br />be given the opportunity to examine the proposal and to appear before Council in <br /> <br />,- <br /> <br />connection therewith prior to final action by Council on the proposal. <br /> <br />Ci ty Manager Hirst informed Council that a three-judge annexation court has been <br />appointed to hear and act upon the City fS filed petition for annexation. <br /> <br />Miss Ethel Erwin, an attorney-at-law from Charlottesville, Virginia, appeared <br /> <br />before Council and asked that Council advertise for bids towards grantirw; a <br /> <br />franchise to a successful bidder-if bid is accepted-to construct and operate <br /> <br />a T1CATV" system (in other words, a community television antenna connected by <br />
