<br />o <br /> <br />TUES DAY <br /> <br />JUNE 12,.1962 <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst called Council's attention to the fact that in the action <br /> <br />of City Council of March 20, 1962, wherein Council authcrized execution-in <br /> <br />behalf of the City--of Part A, Offer & Acceptance Document for Federal Sewerage <br />Grant of $144,600.00, inadvertently said action did not specifical1y designate <br /> <br />the s~ner, as required by the United States Department of Health, Education, <br /> <br />and Welfare; whereupon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council <br /> <br />adopted the following resolution: <br /> <br />BE rr RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsvil1e, Virginia, <br />in regular meetiq; assembled this twelfth day of June, 1962, that <br />said Council does hereby acknowledge the action of Julian F. Hirst, <br />City Manager, in executiq>; under date of March 22, 1962, Part A, <br />Offer & Acceptance Document in behalf of Federal Grant for sewage <br />treatIlE nt works and, further , that said Council further confirms <br />that such execution by said Julian F. Hirst, City Manager, was and <br />is in accordance with direction and authorization by the Council. <br /> <br />Pursua.:a.t to duly-advertised notice and invitation, the City received the <br /> <br />following bids on June 6, 1962, for the construction of 7,800 linear feet of <br /> <br />sewer line to collect sewer outfalls on the west side of Mulberr.r Creek and <br /> <br />connect to the proposed Mulberry Creek Interceptor: <br /> <br /> Vitrified Asbestos <br /> Bidder Clay Concrete Cement <br />Aaron J. Conner $55,924.00 $55,000.00 $55,000.00 <br />Hackler-Seymour 52,985.00 52,985.00 52,960.00 <br />Prillaman & Pace 39,500.00 37,900.00 39,500.00 <br />Council was advised that the City's consulting engireers (Wiley & Wilson) <br /> <br />have reco!Tllrended accepting the low bid of $37,900.00 for concrete pipe <br /> <br />submitted by Prillamn & Pace; however, Council determined that the vitrified <br /> <br />clay pipe should be used and, trerefore, accepting the low bid of $39,500.00, <br /> <br />specifying said vitrified clay pipe, also submitted by Prillaman & Pace. <br />
