<br />,1 r <br />L f <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />AUGUST 12, 1969 <br /> <br />......-- <br /> <br />WHRERAS, Martinsville City Council conducted a duly-advertised public hearing <br />on said petition at the Council's regular meeting held August 12, 1969, at <br />which hearing no one registered any objections to said requested closing; now, <br />therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular <br />meeting assembled this twelfth day of August, 1969, that--in acceptance of the <br />reports and recommendations of both the Martinsville Planning Commission and <br />the said Board of Viewers--it doth hereby order the discontinuance and <br />abandonment of said segment of Griggs Street; and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that a copy of this ordinance, <br />accompanied by petitioner's map relating thereto, be forthwith filed with the <br />Clerk of the Corporation Court of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, as <br />authorization and directive to said Clerk to mark his records accordingly. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing on <br /> <br />the Planning Commission's recommended (July 3, 1969) revisions of the City's <br /> <br />Zoning Ordinance, pertaining to "marquees", etc., that--with the revisions--the <br /> <br />Zoning Ordinance might parallel similar provisions in the Building Code. There <br /> <br />being no objections registered by anyone to the proposed revisions, Council <br /> <br />adopted the following ordinance amending the Zoning Ordinance to effect said <br /> <br />recommended revisions: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in <br />regular meeting assembled this twelfth day of August, 1969, that the <br />following sections of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, be--and are hereby--amended to include the following: <br /> <br />SECTION II - Definitions <br />(Insert the following between "Lot, through" and "Motel") <br />Marquee. Any fixed canopy or other covered structure, other than <br />a projecting sign, which is structurally a part of a building, pro- <br />jecting from and wholly supported by the building and extending <br />beyong the building wall. <br /> <br />SECTION VI - Dimension Regulations <br />(To subsection "B. General", paragraph "2.", add the following) <br />In the C-2 and C-3 districts, marquees, fixed and movable awnings <br />may project over the required front yard and over a publicly-owned <br />sidewalk space for two-thirds the width of such sidewalk space but <br />not closer than three feet to the curb-face adjacent to the street. <br />
