"-I ~J

JULY 8, 1969

TUESDAY

Council agreed to conduct its annual street-and-sidewa1k projects tour on Monday,

July 14, 1969, beginning at 12:30 P.M.

.-

Through its Counsel, Mr. William F. Stone, Attorney at Law, Sale Knitting Company

filed a petition requesting the closing and vacating of an unopened portion of

Griggs Street, off Franklin Street. Council referred this petition to the

Planning Commission for its consideration and recommendation.

By letter dated June 28, 1969, Messrs. N. Roscoe Burroughs and G. T. White requested

sewer service for their four buildings located on the south side of Route 220 North,

in the Villa Heights area, inasmuch as it is not feasible for the Henry County

Public Service Authority to provide such service and inasmuch as sewer service is

urgently needed. Council referred this petition to the Planning Commission for its

consideration as to compliance with the City's subdivision regulations.

In connection with the filed request of the Villa Heights Water Company for

contractual sewer service, the Planning Commission reported that it has not

completed its study of this request but, meanwhile, has asked the State Water

Control Board to extend the time limitation on its directive to the Villa Heights

Water Company in order that the Commission may explore this matter and other

related matters further. In connection with these matters, Vice-Mayor West commented

on the problems facing the City and certain adjoining areas of Henry County,

involving requests from nearby county citizens and businesses for City services

and the present and urgent need for overall planning whereby services can best

be provided. After some discussion, Council directed City Manager Noland to

ascertain the cost of a feasibility study which, if authorized and conducted,

would provide the City with an orderly approach toward future growth and expansion,
