2.-1 TUESDAY MAY 13. 1969 Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council authorized the exercising of an option for the purchase of a tract of land, between Spruce street and Brookdale Road, from Lanier Farm, Inc., for the price of $14,149.00, as a site for a new fire station, said tract being identified as Parcel "B" on map prepared by J. A. Gustin & Associates dated June 9, 1966, and revised October 3, 1968, funds for which purchase to be allocated from the proceeds from the sale of the former City Hall (on East Main Street) to Grand Piano & Furniture Company, Roanoke, Virginia. After reviewing the following bids recently received for the constructing of the following water and sewer lines to serve the new "Wray Estatesl1 subdivision, Mr. Roy C. Stone, developer (1I3T Corporationl1), Council unanimously accepted the lowest bid received, viz., for $47,078.00, submitted by Bryant's Plumbing & Heating Corporation: Project: 5,017 feet of 811 sanitary sewer main; 1,478 feet of 4" sewer lateral lines; 1,778 feet of 6" water main; and 1,326 feet of 411 water main. Bidders: Bryant's Plumbing & Heating Corporation. Prillaman & Pace, Inc. . . . . Laramore Construction Company $47,078.00; 56,175.00; and 62,841.00. Pursuant to applicable regulations, it was noted that the developer will absorb 50% of the cost of 1,800 feet of sewer lines and, eventually as and when improvements are constructed on the lots in the subdivision, the builders will pay to the City the sum of $200.00 per lot, in addition to the applicable connection fees. Council unanimously accepted with appreciation the donating (by deed of conveyance to the City) by Mr. J. Ford Burgess of a small tract of land, consisting of 20.51 square feet, near or at the intersection of Mulberry Road and Jefferson Street, to enable the City to construct authorized improvements at this intersection.
