<br />2.-1 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MAY 13. 1969 <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council authorized the <br /> <br />exercising of an option for the purchase of a tract of land, between Spruce <br /> <br />street and Brookdale Road, from Lanier Farm, Inc., for the price of $14,149.00, <br /> <br />as a site for a new fire station, said tract being identified as Parcel "B" <br /> <br />on map prepared by J. A. Gustin & Associates dated June 9, 1966, and revised <br /> <br />October 3, 1968, funds for which purchase to be allocated from the proceeds <br /> <br />from the sale of the former City Hall (on East Main Street) to Grand Piano & <br /> <br />Furniture Company, Roanoke, Virginia. <br /> <br />After reviewing the following bids recently received for the constructing of <br /> <br />the following water and sewer lines to serve the new "Wray Estatesl1 subdivision, <br /> <br />Mr. Roy C. Stone, developer (1I3T Corporationl1), Council unanimously accepted <br /> <br />the lowest bid received, viz., for $47,078.00, submitted by Bryant's Plumbing <br /> <br />& Heating Corporation: <br /> <br />Project: 5,017 feet of 811 sanitary sewer main; <br />1,478 feet of 4" sewer lateral lines; <br />1,778 feet of 6" water main; and <br />1,326 feet of 411 water main. <br /> <br />Bidders: <br /> <br />Bryant's Plumbing & Heating Corporation. <br />Prillaman & Pace, Inc. . . . . <br />Laramore Construction Company <br /> <br />$47,078.00; <br />56,175.00; and <br />62,841.00. <br /> <br />Pursuant to applicable regulations, it was noted that the developer will <br /> <br />absorb 50% of the cost of 1,800 feet of sewer lines and, eventually as and <br /> <br />when improvements are constructed on the lots in the subdivision, the builders <br /> <br />will pay to the City the sum of $200.00 per lot, in addition to the applicable <br /> <br />connection fees. <br /> <br />Council unanimously accepted with appreciation the donating (by deed of conveyance <br /> <br />to the City) by Mr. J. Ford Burgess of a small tract of land, consisting of <br /> <br />20.51 square feet, near or at the intersection of Mulberry Road and Jefferson <br /> <br />Street, to enable the City to construct authorized improvements at this <br /> <br />intersection. <br />
