Ioi (' <br />d',) J <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />AUGUST 13. 1968 <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MARTINSVILLE, VIRGINIA: <br /> <br />(1) That the Building Code of the City of Martinsville, entitled <br />lIBuilding Code, Martinsville, 1967", as adopted December 13, 1966, be and <br />is hereby amended to reflect and/or incorporate the recommendations of a <br />Special Advisory Committee, as submitted to Martinsville City Council on <br />July 23, 1968; and <br /> <br />(2) That the amendments hereby adopted shall take effect on and after <br />August 14, 1968. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, by a report submitted through the City Manager of the City of <br />M2_rtinsville to Martinsville City Council on July 23, 1968, a duly- <br />oonstituted Special Advisory Committee recommended that "Part III, <br />Plumbingll of the Southern Standard Building Code (1966 revision to <br />1962-63 edition), with certain changes, deletions, and additions--fully <br />set out by said Committee--be adopted by Martinsville City Council as <br />the official plumbing code of the City of Martinsville and, also, be <br />incorporated in and made a part of the Building Code of the City of <br />Martinsville as lIPart II, Plumbingll; and <br /> <br />WIIEREAS, the Council of the City of Martinsville, after due consideration, <br />accepted the recommendations of said Special Advisory Committee; now, <br />therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MARTINSVILLE, VIRGINIA: <br /> <br />(1) That "Part III, Plumbing" of the Southern Standard Building Code, <br />1966, revision to 1962-63 edition, with certain changes, deletions, and <br />additions, as specified, be and the same is hereby adopted as the Plumbing <br />Code of the City of Martinsville, being identified as "Part II, Plumbing" <br />of the Building Code of the City of Martinsville (lIBuilding Code, <br />Martinsville, 196711); and <br /> <br />(2) That the provisions of said Plumbing Code hereby adopted shall become <br />effective August 14, 1968. <br /> <br />City Manager Noland informed Council that the State Corporation Commission, by <br /> <br />its order dated July 29, 1968, has continued the rate-petition application of <br /> <br />Lee Telephone Company until December 3, 1968. Meanwhile, Mr. C. P. Lamn, <br /> <br />Division Manager for Lee Telephone Company, commented upon the status of the <br /> <br />rate application and, also, informed Council that the State Corporation <br /> <br />Commission--while holding in abeyance any action as to rate adjustments--has <br /> <br />already authorized Lee Telephone Company to install certain equipment required <br /> <br />for extended service and other planned expansion of the system. <br />
