<br />H <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JUrE 25. 1968 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the sale of the Cityts $3,900,000 General Improvement <br />Bonds, scheduled for ~~y 23, 1968 and postponed by action of <br />Martinsville City Council under date of May 22, 1968, remains pending; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, anticipated income of the City of Martinsville will not be <br />sufficient to meet the City's operating expenses and contractural <br />obligations until sale and delivery of said bonds, tentatively <br />scheduled for September, 1968; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled this twenty-fifth day of June, 1968, that <br />the Honorable F. T. Renick, M.D., Mayor, and W. H. Yeaman, Clerk of <br />Council & Director of Finance, be--and are hereby--authorized and <br />directed to execute notes, on behalf of the City of ~rtinsville, for <br />the renewing of $3,246,000.00 borrowed heretofore and due June 30, <br />1968, for the period ending September 30, 1968; and, <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the above-named Mayor and Clerk of <br />Council-Director of Finance be--and are hereby--authorized to borrow <br />from local banks the additional sum of $300,000.00 on June 30, 1968, <br />for the period ending September 30, 1968; and, on August 1, 1968, a <br />like sum of $300,000.00 for the period ending September 30, 1968. <br /> <br />Mr. John H. Carrier, President, and other members of the Triangle Citizens <br /> <br />Band Radio Club, by letter of petition and by verbal petition, requested <br /> <br />(I..- <br />permission to install~radio monitor in the City's Police Department, for <br /> <br />monitoring by Police personnel at all times to assist and supplement the <br /> <br />activity of the club in responding to emergency needs broadcast over an <br /> <br />assigned channel used by members of the organization known as Radio Emergency <br /> <br />Associated Citizens Teams (i.e., REACT). Council referred this request to <br /> <br />City Manager Noland and Police Chief Bolejack for investigation and <br /> <br />recommendation. <br /> <br />Pursuant to the following resolution, Council authorized Mayor Renick to <br /> <br />execute several agreements with the Carolina & Northwestern Railway Company, <br /> <br />providing for crossings of the railway company's right-of-way by City sewer <br /> <br />lines: <br />
