<br />., i' <br />:} i U <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JUNE 25, 1968 <br /> <br />Following a public hearing on June 20, 1968, the Martinsville <br />Planning Commission gave final consideration to a matter referred <br />to them by Council. This matter was a petition submitted by the <br />majority of the property owners on both sides of Ellsworth Street <br />between Church Street and Brown Street, requesting the rezoning <br />of the entire street from its present P-2 Professional and R-6 <br />Residential to a C-2 Commercial classification. <br /> <br />Based on the evidence taken in this public hearing, the Commission, <br />with four members present, voted unanimously to make the following <br />recommendation: that all properties fronting the east side of <br />Ellsworth Street presently zoned R-6 Residential be rezoned to a <br />C-2 Commercial classification, and that the properties on the west <br />side of Ellsworth, beginning with the Hite property southward to <br />Brown Street, be rezoned from its present P-2 Professional to a <br />C-2 Commercial classification; that all properties north of the <br />Hite property remain in their present classification. <br /> <br />The Planning Commission respectfully submits its above recommendation <br />for Council1s further consideration. <br /> <br />At the direction of Council, the following is the recording of (a copy of) <br /> <br />the Abstract of Votes cast in the General Election held in the City of <br /> <br />Martinsville on June 11, 1968, with the Commissioners of Election therefor <br /> <br />certifying that Messrs. Harry L. Boaz, Fred T. Renick, M.D., and William <br /> <br />Dyson Hobson were duly elected as members of the City Council for terms <br /> <br />beginning September 1, 1968: <br /> <br />FOR COUNCIL OF THE SAID CITY OF MARTINSVILLE <br /> <br />HARRY L BOAZ - .one Thousand Five Hundred Sixty-four (1564) Votes <br />MRS. STONE - One Thousand Four Hundred Eighty-five (1485) Votes <br />W11.
