l ,t c:1.

TUESDAY

FEBRUARY 28, 1967

After reviewing the bids received February 21, 1967, for certain water

system projects and improvements, and upon recommendation of City Manager

Noland and of Public Works Director George W. Brown, Council accepted

the lowest bids received for projects identified as uDivision No. 1u and

"Division No.2", viz.,

Div. No.1: Bryant's Plumbing & Heating Company - $95,000.00 -
for pipe line from Liberty Street, west along Armory
Road, to a point, thence south to site of proposed
elevated storage tank and to Smith Road; plus
foundation for said tank; and subject to filing
of required financial statement and performance bond.

Div. No.2: Dorcon, Inc., of Warren, Pennsylvanis - $136,450.00 -
1,000,000-gallon elevated water storage tank.

Also upon recommendation, Council deferred action on the single bid received

for "Division 311, in the amount of $93,400.00 submitted by Pittsburg-Des Moines

Steel Company, for covering existing water storage tanks, pending a determination

as to the feasibility of replacing one or more of these storage tanks by new

tanks either in the same location or elsewhere.

Upon motion, Council unanimously authorized City Attorney Cubine to proceed with

the preparation--for Council's consideration and action--of appropriate documents

or ordinances necessary to offer for sale the bonds already authorized (but

unissued) for schools, city hall, and sewerage system. In connection with

the pending issuance of these bonds, Mr. A. J. Lester, III, of Wheat & Company,

offered the services of his stock brokerage firm in marketing these bonds.

Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council re-enacted, for

the license tax year beginning March 15, 1967, the motor vehicle license tax

ordinance effective March 15, 1966, but with appropriate revisions to coincide

with current state statutes.
