<br />IB <br /> <br />MONDAY <br /> <br />JANUARY 30, 1967 <br /> <br />c_ <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, and upon being informed <br /> <br />that the Federal Department of Housing & Urban Development has approved the <br /> <br />City's application for Federal funds toward the purchase of seven busses, <br /> <br />under the Mass Transportation Act of 1964, Council adopted the following <br /> <br />resolution authorizing City Manager Noland to execute a contract with the <br /> <br />United States of America, through said Department of Housing & Urban <br /> <br />Development, which contract is identified as relating to Project No. VA-UTG-1, <br /> <br />setting forth the terms and conditions under which said grant is to be awarded: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, by resolution duly adopted June 28, 1966, the Council of the <br />City of Martinsville, Virginia, authorized Mr. Thomas B. NOland, City <br />Manager of said City of Martinsville, to execute and file an application-- <br />on behalf of the City of Martinsville--with the Department of Housing <br />and Urban Development, of the United States Government, for a capital <br />grant under the Mass Transportation Act of 1964, and as amended; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to such authority and to the requirements of said <br />Department, the said Thomas B. Noland did file such an application <br />and has executed and filed other required documents and assurances <br />relating thereto; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a grant of an amount not to exceed $74,056.00 has been assured <br />the City of Martinsville by the Secretary of the Department of Housing <br />and Urban Development in approval of said application; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in meeting assembled this thirtieth day of January, 1967, that the <br />said Thomas B. Noland, City Manager of said City of Martinsville, <br />be and is hereby authorized to execute a grant contract with the <br />United States of America, through its Department of Housing and Urban <br />Development (Urban Transportation Administration), which contract <br />consists of five counterparts and is further identified as relating to <br />Project No. VA-UTG-1, setting forth the terms and conditions under which <br />said grant is to be awarded. <br /> <br />Council referred to the Planning Commission, for its consideration and recommendations, <br /> <br />a petition submitted by Graves Supply Company requesting the rezoning to "M-1 <br /> <br />Industrial" of a 200-foot tract adjacent to petitioner's present place of business <br /> <br />at 905 North Memorial Boulevard. <br />
