<br />~ q <br />~. 0 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />NOVEMBER 22. 1966 <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said City Council, this twenty-second day <br />November, 1966, that the enumerated usages under Paragraph J (C3 <br />Commercial District) of Section V of the Zoning Ordinance of the City <br />of Martinsville, adopted March 24, 1964, and as amended, are hereby <br />amended to include "Golf driving rangest!, inserting this new usage <br />between present Items 9 and 10 as a new item to be identified as <br />"Item 10" and renumbering the items following this insertion, Le., <br />10 through 18, as Items 11 through 19. <br /> <br />In connection with authorized acquisition of parcels of land on New York <br /> <br />Avenue for--and as--a site for an elevated water storage ta~ authorization <br /> <br />being given by Council on October 11, 1966, Council was informed that w. C. <br /> <br />Tatum, owner of Lot Nos. 18, 19, and 20, is not inclined to sell Lot No. 20 <br /> <br />at the authorized purchase price of $750.00 unless the City will purchase <br /> <br />all three of his lots at $750.00 per lot; whereupon, Council unanimously <br /> <br />authorized the purchase of said three lots at $750.00 per lot. As to the <br /> <br />Lucy C. Hairston parcel, i.e., Lot No. 23, purchase of which has been <br /> <br />authorized, Council authorized City Manager Noland to enter into a contract <br /> <br />(for the City) with the Hairston tract owners to purchase said Lot No. 23, <br /> <br />for the sum of $750.00, in order that acquisition of this lot might be expedited <br /> <br />inasmuch as a friendly suit to acquire the property is necessary because of the <br /> <br />involvement of infants in the ownership of said lot. <br /> <br />City Manager Noland reported that Federal approval of the City's application <br /> <br />for bus equipment (Mass Transportation) funds is still being withheld, pending <br /> <br />further review, and that delivery of the busses could be made in the very near <br /> <br />future if the application had already met with Federal approval. <br /> <br />Members of the Safety Committee of Patrick Henry Elementary School, with <br /> <br />Mrs. C. T. Fleenor, Jr., as spokesman, presented the following recommendations <br /> <br />and/or requests in the interest of pedestrian safety in the school area: <br /> <br />
