Flashing (or warning) lights, one at Booker Road and one at
Jefferson Circle; and

4. Off-street parking for ten cars in the park area adjacent to the
school driveway.

Council indicated its intent to explore the possibility of complying with

"..-.,.

these requests, through contact with property owners who would be involved

in the sidewalk construction and through study of various other related

matters.

Subject to approval of City Attorney Cubine, as to form and general warranty

of purpose (i.e., specifying usage limited to industrial access road),

Council authorized conveying by deed (in fee simple), to the Virginia

Department of Highways, of right-of-way owned by the City and reserved by

the City for said purpose in its plan of development for the City's

Industrial Park, said conveyance consisting of right-of-way approximately

3,200 feet in length.

Mr. Oscar F. Cannaday, Jr., local building contractor and realtor, appeared

before Council and requested adoption by Council of a resolution as a basis

of initiating plans for a local "rental housing" project under the

Federal Government's rental-subsidy program for persons of low-to-moderate

income. After discussing with Mr. Cannaday various aspects of the program,

Council recommended that Mr. Cannaday present his proposal to both the City's

Planning Commission and to the local Real Estate Board prior to further con-

sideration by Council of this matter.

Council was adjourned.

')" ')">,,....,,{ 'H", ,
. /
w.
