<br />lC <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />SEPTEMBER 27. 1966 <br /> <br />c_. <br /> <br />firm or corporation transporting a dog into the City of Martinsville, <br />from some other jurisdiction, shall be required to conform with the above <br />regulation within thirty d~s. <br /> <br />Sec. 2-6 Collar Tag. <br />At the time of vaccination, a suitable and distinctive c:ollar tag and <br />a certificate of inoculation shall be issued to the dog owner. The owner <br />shall have the collar tag affixed to the dog's collar and the owner shall <br />have the dog wear the collar with the affixed collar tag at all times <br />when the dog is not on the owner's property or in the immediate control <br />of a responsible person. <br /> <br />Sec. 2-7 Certificate of Vaccination; Issuance of License. <br />In order to effectuate these provisions, any person, firm or <br />corporation making application for a dog license shall be required to <br />present to the City Treasurer a certificate of rabies vaccination properly <br />executed and signed by a licensed veterinarian, certifying that the dog <br />has been vaccinated in accordance with the provisions set forth in Section <br />2-5. The certificate must show the date of inoculation, rabies collar tag <br />number, a brief description of the dog, sex and breed and the owner thereof. <br />The certificate must be presented before the license is issued and must <br />certify that the dog has been properly vaccinated within six months. When <br />the dog license has been issued, the certificate of vaccination shall be <br />so marked and returned to the dog owner. <br /> <br />Sec. 2-8 Regulation of Dogs. <br />(a) It shall be unlawful for the owner of any dog to allow such dog <br />to run at large, at anytime, within the city even though said dog be both <br />lawfully licensed and vaccinated. <br />For the purpose of this sec:tion, the term "to run at large" shall <br />mean to roam, wander, or ramble at will, but does not necessarily mean <br />that such dog may not be at-large in the immediate vicinity of the <br />premises of its owner or custodian, unless such dog is trespassing upon <br />the premises of another person contrary to the wishes of the occupant, <br />superintendent or owner thereof. <br />(b) It shall be unlawful for the owner of any dog to allow, cause <br />or permit such dog to enter any public: hall, restaurant, ice cream parlor, <br />soft drink parlor, food store, supermarket, public building, or any office <br />or store during the time such office or store is open for public business, <br />whether the dog be muzzled, or on leash, or otherwise under the immediate <br />control of such owner; but this provision shall not apply to the small or <br />"toy" dog so long as it is being carried by its custodian nor shall it <br />apply to "seeing eye-II dogs properly trained and actually being used by <br />blind persons for the purpose of aiding such persons in going from place <br />to place. <br /> <br />Sec. 2-9 Impounding. <br />Any dog found in the city not vaccinated, identified, licensed or <br />regulated, as required in this ordinance, shall be impounded by an <br />authorized official of the city and such dogs shall be held for a period <br />of ten days.
