T. Renick, M.D., presiding, was held Tuesday, <br /> <br />September 27, 1966, beginning at 7~30 P.M., in the Council Chamber, City Hall, <br /> <br />with all members being present, viz., Dr. F. T. Renick, Mayor; E. E. Stone, <br /> <br />Vice-Mayor; Harry L. Boaz; W. Donald Hartford; and Francis T. West. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held September 13, 1966. <br /> <br />After hearing from several interested citizens present and after some discussion <br /> <br />and/or comments by members of Council, Council adopted proposed amendments to <br /> <br />Article II of Chapter 2 of the City Code, including the revisions thereto as <br /> <br />placed on third reading September 13, 1966, and including minor revisions <br /> <br />suggested by City Attorney Cubine as to final form, all of which are included <br /> <br />in the following re-enacted ordinance providing for the regulation of dogs <br /> <br />within the City's corporate limits: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AN ORDINANCE (AS AIXlPTED NOVEMBER 26, 1957) <br />REQUIRING THE VACCINATION OF IXlGS IN THE CITY OF MARTINSVILLE, <br />REQUIRING THE LICENSING THEREOF, PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF <br />AN IMPOUNDING OFFICER AND FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A OOG POUND, <br />GENERALLY REGULATING OOGS WITHIN THE CITY, AND PROVIDING PENALTY <br />FOR FAn,URE TO COMPLY THEREWITH. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is the judgment of the Council of the City of Martinsville <br />that, in the interest of public health and safety, Article II of <br />Chapter 2 of the Code of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, 1956, <br />and as amended, should be further amended; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 2-5 Vaccination. <br />It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to own, <br />keep, hold or harbor any dog, over the age of 4 months, within the <br />City of Martinsville unless said dog shall have been vaccinated or <br />inoculated within a period of 12 months with a killed rabies vaccine <br />approved by the Virginia State Department of Health.
