., '\ j t, ,; .1 \} \, TUESDA Y -- SEPTEMBER 13. 1966 BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, that--for and in consideration of the mutual benefits that will accrue to both the City of Martinsville, Virginia, and the County of Henry, Virginia--said Council hereby requests the cooperation and participation of the Board of Supervisors of the County of Henry, Virginia, in further comprehensive planning in the urban area of said County of Henry, Virginia. Adopted in regular session of said Council, this thirteenth day of September, 1966. After reviewing ways and means of financing the total estimated cost of the proposed City Hall (Municipal) project and after discussing with Mr. J. Coates Carter, Architect, estimated additional cost of providing a full basement under the new City Hall proper (computed at $3.88 per square foot for 20,600 additional square feet, or approximately $80,000.00), which was not included in plans and specifications on which bidders submitted their bids August 31, 1966, Council unanimously authorized the construction of the total project and awarded the following contracts: Contractor Stanley W. Bowles Stanley W. Bowles Roanoke Iron & Bridge (to be selected) Amount $ 1 ,019,000~~ $ 9,000 $ 30 , 500 $ 80,000 Purpose City Hall and Jail Second Elevator Jail Equipment Full Basement * Base bid in lieu of lIAlternate No. 111 bid for which contract was prepared and executed pursuant to Council's action of September 1, 1966. After receiving comments and/or inquiries from Mrs. Robert H. Appleby and Mr. O. W. Poindexter concerning proposed revisions to the City's Dog Regulations, as well as suggested revisions thereto presented by Mr. F. S. Dickson, Council placed upon third reading said proposed revisions, including additional explanatory sections suggested by City Attorney Cubine.
