Brown presented a <br /> <br />tabulation of bids received March 3, 1966, for the construction of a portion of <br /> <br />the Smith River Interceptor Sewer Line, stating that these bids are now being <br /> <br />reviewed by the City's consulting engineers and that, subject to this review, the <br /> <br />apparent low bids were as follows: <br /> <br />Proposal No.1 Tunnel and 1.800 feet of concrete "linert! pipe: <br />James McHugh Construction Company . . . . . $293,948.00; <br /> <br />Proposal No.2 -- 12,000 feet o~ concrete pipe: <br />Prillaman & Pace . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $244,464.00; and <br /> <br />Proposal No.3 (alternate) -- 12,000 feet of 42" corrugated metal pilli2.: <br />Prillaman & Pace .... . . . . . . . . $229,968.00. <br /> <br />Council waS informed that, in connection with this project, consideration is being <br /> <br />given--bo~h by the City and the local du Pont plant officials--to the feasibility <br /> <br />of constructing a roadway over du Pont plant property whereby the City might <br /> <br />eliminate the sewer tunnel phase and, at the same time, the du Pont Company could <br /> <br />be afforded (in conjunction therewith) a roadway segment for industrial access <br /> <br />purposes, in which event the cost to the City for constructing the sewer line phase <br /> <br />would be considerably less than the cost of the tunnel line. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council authorized the <br /> <br />executing--by appropriate City officials--of an easement agreement with the E. I. <br /> <br />du Pont de Nemours & Company, Inc., to enable the City to construct a sewer line on <br /> <br />the du Pont Company's local plant property, as aforesaid in paragraph next above. <br /> <br />I- <br />
