<br />3: <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />APRIL 25, 1972 <br /> <br />At the request of the Planning Commission, Council postponed to its next <br /> <br />regular meeting consideration of recommendations pertaining to changing <br /> <br />of several street-names. <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />Pursuant to conditions set forth by Council in its granting a Special-Use <br /> <br />Permit, on March 23, 1971, for the conduct by the Henry County Fair & <br /> <br />Exposition of its annual Fairs, Council extended said Permit for the <br /> <br />forthcoming 1972 Fair & Exposition at Liberty Heights Fairground, September <br /> <br />4th through September 9th. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of written notice dated April 20, 1972, filed <br /> <br />by City Transit Company, Inc., of City Transit's intent to terminate the <br /> <br />operation of its bus system after June 5, 1972. At the request of <br /> <br />Mr. Roy C. Stone, owner-operator of the bus system under franchise granted <br /> <br />by the City, Council unanimously agreed to discuss this matter with Mr. Stone <br /> <br />in Executive Session, at the conclusion of regular meeting herein covered by <br /> <br />these minutes, meanwhile expressing to Mr. Stone and his associates Council's <br /> <br />appreciation of the fine public service rendered the community through this <br /> <br />medium by City Transit Company during its operation of the bus system. <br /> <br />Council referred to the Planning Commission, for its consideration and <br /> <br />recommendation, a letter (dated April 25, 1972) from the Sale Knitting Division <br /> <br />of the Tully Corporation of Virginia, through Mr. E. M. Kinker, Plant Engineer, <br /> <br />requesting that "the west side of Moss Street be given the same consideration <br /> <br />...........as will be given the east side" in the current matter before the <br /> <br />Commission proposing a reduction in the set-back requirements along said Moss <br /> <br />Street between Church and Fayette Streets. <br />
