<br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />NOBEMBER 23, 1971 <br /> <br />/- <br /> <br />church tract for the sum of $5,500.00, said option to remain in force until <br /> <br /> <br />mid-July, 1972 and which option the City would hope to exercise by including <br /> <br /> <br />purchase funds therefor in the City's 1972-73 budget. <br /> <br />Mr. Earle W. Greene, Realtor, on behalf of himself and Mr. Bill A. Adkins, <br /> <br />appeared before Council and verbally filed an application for a Special-Use <br /> <br />Permit which, if granted, would allow petitioners to add a number of <br /> <br />townhouse-type units to those already existing in the development known <br /> <br />as "Plantation East", located at the end of Blankenship Street. Council <br /> <br />referred this application to the Planning Commission, suggesting--at the <br /> <br />request of the petitioners--that the required public hearings of the <br /> <br />Commission and the Council be conducted jointly, preferably at a regular <br /> <br />meeting of Council at the earliest possible date. <br /> <br />Mr. H. Grady Moore, Sr., appeared before Council and requested the rezoning <br /> <br />of his property, identified as Lot No. 2 on the southside of Starling Avenue <br /> <br />and Forest Street, from "R-6 Residential" to "C-2 Commercial", indicating <br /> <br />that Stone Funeral Home desires to acquire this lot to expand its off-street <br /> <br />parking facilities. Council referred this petition to the Planning <br /> <br />Commission for its consideration and recommendation. <br /> <br />Mr. D. B. Hanel, Commissioner of the Revenue, informed Council that to <br /> <br />accommodate the City's "split-billing" on real estate taxes, to be <br /> <br />inaugurated in 1972, it is necessary that Council establish a tax rate on <br /> <br />a calendar year basis, beginning with 1972, although there would be an <br /> <br />2~ <br /> <br />( <br />
