<br />(\() <br />, i " <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JANUARY 26, 1971 <br /> <br />total cost of $968,000.00; <br /> <br />(2) To proceed, under State statutes, with the extending of the <br /> <br />City's subdivision regulations into Henry County for a distance <br /> <br />of three miles from the City's corporate limits; and <br /> <br />(3) To resume sewer service (for Villa Heights) negotiations with <br /> <br />the Henry County Public Service Authority. <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of City Manager Noland, and after being apprised of the <br /> <br />work-load now being carried by the City's Department of Social Services, <br /> <br />Council unanimously appropriated the sum of $2,800.00 (with 60% reimbursable <br /> <br />by the State of Virginia) to provide funds necessary to employ an additional <br /> <br />Social Worker for the Department for the remainder of the City's fiscal year. <br /> <br />City Manager Noland informed Council of legislation pending, or proposed to <br /> <br />be introduced, before the current Special Session of the Virginia General <br /> <br />Assembly, as such legislation might affect the City of Martinsville, in order <br /> <br />that Council might express its wishes thereon to members of the Assembly. <br /> <br />By its unanimous adoption of the following resolution, Council unanimously <br /> <br />approved--for Mayor Renick's Signature--two agreements with the Carolina & <br /> <br />Northwestern Railway Company whereby the City will be permitted to extend <br /> <br />certain sewer and water lines across the railway company's right-of-way at <br /> <br />points and for the purpose described in said resolution: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, by action taken June 23, 1970, Martinsville City Council <br />authorized the extending and constructing of certain City sewer <br />and water lines in order to provide City sewer and water service <br />for a new plant of American Standard Homes Corporation, near or <br />off Stultz Road; and <br />
