') <br />,- <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JANUARY 12, 1971 <br /> <br />from their present IIR-6 Residential" classification to a "P-2 Professional" <br /> <br />classification, Council called for a duly-advertised public hearing on said <br /> <br />proposal to be conducted at its forthcoming February 9th meeting. <br /> <br />By letter and in person, officials of Southwestern Virginia Gas Company <br /> <br />informed Council that, by a ruling of the State Corporation Commission, and <br /> <br />pending final action by the Federal Power Commission, the gas company must <br /> <br />pass on to its customers two nominal increases (effective January 1, 1971 and <br /> <br />January 10, 1971) being sought by the Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line <br /> <br />Corporation, which corporation supplies gas to the local community. <br /> <br />In acceptance of a proposal jointly submitted by the 1971 Board of Equalization <br /> <br />and the City's Commissioner of the Revenue, Council authorized the expenditures <br /> <br />of some $750.00--for forms and postage--to enable the Equalization Board and <br /> <br />the Commissioner of the Revenue to mail to each local property owner a notice <br /> <br />setting forth both the appraised and assessed valuation of the respective <br /> <br />owner's property, as established by the 1970 Board of Assessors. <br /> <br />Council unanimously approved--for execution by City Manager Noland, on behalf <br /> <br />of the City of Martinsville--a proposed agreement with the Norfolk & Western <br /> <br />Railway Company, pertaining to the already-constructed 15" sanitary sewer line <br /> <br />crossing the railway company's right-of-way near or adjacent to Memorial <br /> <br />Boulevard, being at the railway company's Mile Post R-66+22lll. <br /> <br />Council referred to the Planning Commission, for its consideration and <br /> <br />recommendation, an application dated January 7, 1971, and filed by Mr. Julian <br /> <br />R. Stinson, of Danville, Virginia, for and on behalf of Northview Gardens <br /> <br />Associates, requesting a Special-Use Permit to allow construction of an <br />
