<br />lL <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />OCTOBER 13, 1970 <br /> <br />Pursuant to request filed by Mr. Gary W. Smith, of 16 Pinnacle Drive, Villa <br /> <br />Heights, Council authorized the connecting to a City water main of Mr. Smith's <br /> <br />proposed new residence on Rosewood Avenue, Woodland Heights (Lot l3-l6), <br /> <br />contingent upon and subject to Mr. Smith's complying with all applicable City <br /> <br />regulations, including zoning and building regulations. <br /> <br />/~ <br /> <br />A request filed by Mr. John W. Holmes as Agent for Evelyn H. Stone, Trustee, <br /> <br />seeking the rezoning--from "M-3 Industrialtl to "R-9 Residential"--of petitioner's <br /> <br />78-acre tract situated on the west side of Rives Road (formerly Scuffle Hill <br /> <br />Road) was referred to the Planning Commission for its consideration and <br /> <br />recommendation. <br /> <br />In receiving the following request from the firm of Rives S. Brown, Realtor, <br /> <br />for City sewer service for petitioner's Tan Bark Place, Council instructed <br /> <br />City Manager Noland and Public Works Director Brown to compile data, such as <br /> <br />engineering and costs, applicable to both this petition and the entire <br /> <br />Mulberry Creek Drainage Basin which could be served by the City's Mulberry <br /> <br />Creek Outfall Line if the area property is developed and should the Council <br /> <br />so permit, with the assembled information and an lIall-encompassingll <br /> <br />recommendation to be presented to Council within the next two-to-four weeks: <br /> <br />On March 26, 1969, a contract was executed between the City of <br />Martinsville, and Rives S. Brown, Jr., Jackson C. Dodge, and James M. <br />Wilson, covering the extension of a water line along a street identified <br />as Tan Bark Place, which extends from Spruce Street into Henry County <br />for a distance of approximately 500 feet. <br /> <br />This water line was constructed according to the requirements of <br />the City's Water and Sewer Extension Ordinance. The property to be <br />served by this water line was subdivided in accordance with the City's <br />Subdivision Ordinance, and the street was constructed to standards <br />exceeding City requirements. <br />
