<br />11 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />SEPTEMBER 8, 1970 <br /> <br />Following its discussion of this matter on September 1, 1970, at which <br />time further expressions of opposition were heard from residents in the <br />area, the Commission voted to recommend to Council that Council proceed <br />to advertise its public hearing with regard to this matter and to request <br />that at some time prior to the date of this public hearing Council meet <br />with the Commission on the property in question for the purpose of <br />viewing the property. <br /> <br />Should Council be amicable to this suggestion, the Planning Commission <br />will make its final recommendation to Council at this meeting. <br /> <br />,.- <br /> <br />The Planning Commission respectfully submits the above recommendation <br />for Councills further consideration. <br /> <br />City Manager Noland informed Council that, with regard to the complaint <br /> <br />registered August 25th by a resident of Glade Street, concerning storm-drainage <br /> <br />facilities (of the lack of same) for Glade and Vine Streets, the City has neither <br /> <br />the responsibility nor the physical means--because of topograp~of the area and <br /> <br />the involvrnent of private properties--to provide any solution to the alledged <br /> <br />problem but would render advice to the property owners should they seek same. <br /> <br />City Manager Noland reported, also, that the problem faced by water customers <br /> <br />residing on Barrows Mill Road outside the City's corporate limit, as brought <br /> <br />to Council's attention at its August 25th meeting, is yet under study and will <br /> <br />be reported on in the near future. <br /> <br />.,,,-. <br /> <br />Council referred to the Planning Commission--for its consideration and <br /> <br />recommendation--a petition filed by Mr. William F. Stone, Attorney at Law, on <br /> <br />behalf of Mr. Roy Price Millner, requesting a "C-2 Commercial" zoning class i- <br /> <br />fication for Lots Nos. 12, 13, and 14, situated on the west side of Beaver Street. <br /> <br />,- <br /> <br />Although a petition is on file for the construction of curb-and-gutter along <br /> <br />Barton Street, from Cemetery Street to West Church Street, and being apprised <br /> <br />of the fact that this petition has not qualified for such construction, Council <br /> <br />-.'.....,..---.-----___.____.__ _"~_ .__m'_.....".._.,~_.,....___'________,__._.,..___._,___ <br />
