Cannaday,

Jr.), to purchase (at $1,000.00 per acre) a City-owned tract of land of

58 acres located on Clearview Drive, outside the Cityts corporate limits,

formerly identified as the IIPoorhouse Farm" tract, it being determined that

this land has a definite potential for development by the City for several

valuable usages.

Upon being informed that considerable interest has been expressed by

several individuals or firms in acquiring City-owned parcels of land (three

separate tracts) outside the City's corporate limits and located on Route

706 ("Old Dye Plant Road") near Smith River, Council directed that invitations

for sealed bids be advertised.

A pending offer from a business firm to trade some of its property for the

City's "Hedgecock Trace' (purchased some years ago as a proposed site for a

sewage disposal plant) was continued to Council's next regular meeting, at

the request of said business firm.

Council also continued to its next regular meeting a request filed by Mr.

Harry L. Nunn, trading as H. L. Nunn Grocery, in which Mr. Nunn asked for

the waiving or pro-rating of business license tax required to be imposed
