Messrs. William U. Starkey and Fred K. Little, <br /> <br />of Southwestern Virginia Gas Company, commented on the petition, particularly <br /> <br />as to the percentage of increase being sought as well as upon an increase being <br /> <br />sought by the company supplying and transporting natural gas to petitioner's <br /> <br />system. After some discussion, Council instructed City Manager Noland and City <br /> <br />Attorney Cubine to analyze petitioner's rate application, with the assistance <br /> <br />of such technical consultants as necessary, and report its findings to Council <br /> <br />at its next regular meeting, that Council might determine what position it will <br /> <br />take on this matter before the State Corporation Commission at its first hearing <br /> <br />scheduled January 5, 1970 and/or at subsequent hearings and deliberations. <br /> <br />Council was reminded of the forthcoming and initial meeting of the Advisory <br /> <br />Committee on Consolidation, to be held in the Council Chamber, Friday, December <br /> <br />12, 1969, beginning at 3:00 P.M., to be attended also by members of the Henry <br /> <br />County Board of Supervisors, and to which officials of the Town of Ridgeway <br /> <br />have been invited. <br /> <br />After receiving the following report (dated December 5, 1969) of the Planning <br /> <br />Commission, recommending the incorporating into the City's Zoni~ Ordinance <br /> <br />certain guidelines to be followed by Council in its consideration of any <br /> <br />application seeking a special-use permit to construct townhouses or similar <br /> <br />developments, Council called for a duly-advertised public hearing to be <br /> <br />conducted by Council on the proposed amendments at its regular meeting to be <br /> <br />held January 13, 1970: <br /> <br />On March 14, 1967, Council referred to the Planning Commission a <br />request from Mr. Oscar F. Cannaday, Jr. that the City's Zoning Ordinance <br />and Subdivision Ordinance be revised to permit the construction of <br />townhouses, rowhouses and condominiums in the City. <br />
