<br />q'l <br />\ <br /> <br />r;,. , <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />DECEMBER 9, 1969 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D., presiding, was held Tuesday, <br /> <br />December 9, 1969, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., <br /> <br />all members being present, viz., F. T. Renick, M.D., Mayor; Francis T. West, <br /> <br />Vice Mayor; Harry L. Boaz; W. Donald Hartford; and William D. Hobson. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its <br /> <br />regular meeting held November 25, 1969. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council and the Planning Commission <br /> <br />jointly conducted a public hearing on Dr. Fred B. Caffey's petition (filed <br /> <br />November 12, 1969) requesting the rezoning from "R-6" to "P-2" that property <br /> <br />located at 407 Starling Avenue and formerly known as the Z. C. Ramsey <br /> <br />property. There being no objections registered to this proposed rezoning <br /> <br />and in acceptance of the Planning Commission's recommendation thereon (viz., <br /> <br />that petition be granted), Council adopted the following ordinance amending <br /> <br />the City's Zoning Code and Zoning Map, thus effecting said rezoning as <br /> <br />requested: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled this ninth day of December, 1969, that <br />the Zoning Ordinance and the Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville <br />be--and are hereby--amended to reclassify to "P-2 Professional" that <br />property owned (or to be purchased) by Dr. Fred B. Caffey and located <br />at 407 Starling Avenue, being further identified as the former Z. C. <br />Ramsey property. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of a copy of a petition (or application) filed <br /> <br />by Southwestern Virginia Gas Company with the State Corporation Commission, <br /> <br />seeking an increase in petitioner's gas tariffs applicable to the local area <br /> <br />served by petitioner. City Manager Noland presented an exhibit showing <br />
