q'l \ r;,. , TUESDAY DECEMBER 9, 1969 The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D., presiding, was held Tuesday, December 9, 1969, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members being present, viz., F. T. Renick, M.D., Mayor; Francis T. West, Vice Mayor; Harry L. Boaz; W. Donald Hartford; and William D. Hobson. After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its regular meeting held November 25, 1969. Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council and the Planning Commission jointly conducted a public hearing on Dr. Fred B. Caffey's petition (filed November 12, 1969) requesting the rezoning from "R-6" to "P-2" that property located at 407 Starling Avenue and formerly known as the Z. C. Ramsey property. There being no objections registered to this proposed rezoning and in acceptance of the Planning Commission's recommendation thereon (viz., that petition be granted), Council adopted the following ordinance amending the City's Zoning Code and Zoning Map, thus effecting said rezoning as requested: BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular meeting assembled this ninth day of December, 1969, that the Zoning Ordinance and the Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville be--and are hereby--amended to reclassify to "P-2 Professional" that property owned (or to be purchased) by Dr. Fred B. Caffey and located at 407 Starling Avenue, being further identified as the former Z. C. Ramsey property. Council acknowledged receipt of a copy of a petition (or application) filed by Southwestern Virginia Gas Company with the State Corporation Commission, seeking an increase in petitioner's gas tariffs applicable to the local area served by petitioner. City Manager Noland presented an exhibit showing
