Bolejack, Police Chief - <br />President, 1968-69, Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police. <br /> <br />Local officials of Southwestern Virginia Gas Company appeared before Council <br /> <br />and, pursuant to its gas franchise (granted by the City), notified the City <br /> <br />that the gas company is forthwith filing an application with the State <br /> <br />Corporation Commission for permission and approval to increase its gas tariffs <br /> <br />applicable to customers within the City of Martinsville. <br /> <br />The Virginia Department of Highways announced that it will hold a public meeting <br /> <br />in the City's Corporation Courtroom, Tuesday, December 2, 1969, beginning at <br /> <br />7:30 P.M., to discuss with--and receive inquiries from--interested citizens <br /> <br />various aspects of the Transportation Study recently completed for the area. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of notice from the He~ry County Board of Supervisors <br /> <br />of the Board's appointees to the Advisory Committee on City-County Consolidation, <br /> <br />viz., Mr. A. L. Philpott, Attorney at Law and Member of the Virginia House of <br /> <br />Delegates; Mr. Wade A. Lawrence, former member of the Henry County School <br /> <br />Board; and Mr. James M. Rimmer, an official of Fieldcrest Mills. Council <br /> <br />suggested that a meeting of the Advisory Committee, jointly with the Henry <br /> <br />County Board of Supervisors and the Martinsville City Council, as well as <br /> <br />officials of the Town of Ridgeway if they so desire, be held Thursday, <br /> <br />December 4th. <br /> <br />Dr. C. J. Mathes, local Public Health Director, presented to the City a check <br /> <br />from the Commonwealth of Virginia in the amount of $517.51, representing the <br /> <br />City's share of recovery of expenses incurred in connection with the Health <br /> <br />Department's Home Health Program under the Federal Medicare activity. <br />
