,-

i~

TUESDAY

NOVEMBER 25, 1969

Dr. Mathes also informed Council that the City of Danville has recently

adopted a revised version of the Southern Housing Code and that a copy of

this version will be made available to Council for its consideration and

study, as an approach to the adopting by Council of a local minimal housing

code.

Mr. Mack Evans again appeared before Council concerning his sewage disposal

problem at his property at 1034-36 Barrows Mill Road, stating that the Health

Department will not permit present conditions to continue. After some

discussion, Council granted permission to Mr. Evans to connect to the City's

sewerage system, pursuant to plan presented by Mr. George W. Brown, Director

of Public Works, and pursuant to all applicable requirements and regulations

of the City, including the proviso that the connecting line and services will

be installed without cost to the City.

Councilman William D. Hobson called Council's attention to the fact that, during

the construction of Memorial Boulevard some years ago, a small segment of same

was left without sidewalk and--this being a project not involving the City's

shared-cost policy with property owners and there being no property fronting

the highway at this point, near Sellers Street--recommended that the sidewalk

be constructed, at City expense, while the City's construction curb-and-gutter

forces are in area, as they presently are. Council unanimously concurred and

authorized the constructing by the City of said sidewalk, being approximately

140 feet in length.

Council was adjourned.

')
W.
