<br />3~1 <br /> <br />TUE SDA y <br /> <br />NOVEMBER 26, 1974 <br /> <br />.- <br /> <br />Council unanimously accepted a report submitted by the CBD Commission (Mr. George <br /> <br />W. Brown, Assistant City Manager-Public Works Director, Chairman) wherein was <br /> <br />recommended that (1) the Martinsvil1e Redevelopment & Housing Authority not consider <br /> <br />at this time the purchasing or leasing of property situated at the southeast corner <br /> <br />of Main and Moss Streets and (2) that land now being purchased and vacated, within <br /> <br />Phase 1 of the CBD Redevelopment project, be converted into free two-hour parking <br /> <br />for motor vehicles. <br /> <br />.- <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council rescheduled its <br /> <br />forthcoming second meeting in December (i.e., scheduled for Christmas Eve, Tuesday, <br /> <br />December 24th) to Tuesday, December 31, 1974, beginning at 1:00 P.M., in the <br /> <br />Council Chamber, City Hall. <br /> <br />Also, upon motion, duly seconded, and with Councilman Morton W. Lester abstaining, <br /> <br />Council called for a duly-advertised public hearing to be conducted at said <br /> <br />December 31st meeting on an application--now being considered by the Planning <br /> <br />Commission--fi1ed by The Lester Corporation, for a Special-Use Permit, to allow <br /> <br />applicant to construct a twelve-unit apartment building on Lots Nos. 11 and 12, <br /> <br />Section B (C. Y. Thomas Estate), on Randolph Street. <br /> <br />After directing certain revisions of a proposed employee handbook or manual, <br /> <br />Council adopted said handbook or manual, as revised. <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of Mr. D. B. Hanel, Commissioner of the Revenue, and pursuant <br /> <br />to applicable statutes, Council authorized the refunding of real estate taxes, in <br /> <br />the total amount of $244.43, assessed against and paid by Mrs. Grace DeShazo for <br /> <br />the tax years 1967 through 1971, resulting from an erroneous assessment, noting that <br /> <br />similar taxes assessed and paid for the years 1972 and 1973 have been refunded. <br />
