<br />3a6 <br /> <br />TUE SDA Y <br /> <br />NOVEMBER 26, 1974 <br /> <br />require <br />devices <br />warning <br />City of <br /> <br />the installation of warning signals and/or other protective <br />at said Lester Street crossing--wi1l install and maintain such <br />signals and/or other protective devices at the expense of the <br />Martinsville; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said contract or agreement has been so re-written to include <br />the foregoing provision; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, under date of March 13, 1974, said contract or agreement, as <br />revised pursuant to the foregoing, was duly executed by the parties <br />thereto, including the City of Martinsville, Virginia, by its then- <br />Mayor, Francis T. West; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled this twenty-sixth day of November, 1974, <br />that it doth hereby affirm and ratify the executing of said contract <br />or agreement by the City's then-Mayor, Francis T. West; and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by said Council that a copy of this resolution <br />be forthwith filed with the Southern Railway Company. <br /> <br />To provide for the increased cost of Fire Department personnel requirements, <br /> <br />for the period January 1, 1975 through June 30, 1975, resulting from Federal <br /> <br />Wage & Hour Law regulations effecting said Fire Department at January 1, 1975, <br /> <br />Council appropriated the sum of $36,000.00 from a like amount of increased <br /> <br />estimated revenue from current property taxes, said appropriation being voted <br /> <br />by a recorded and unanimous vote. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded, Council unanimously appropriated (by recorded <br /> <br />votes) from Revenue-Sharing funds (1) the sum of $16,000.00 for the purchase <br /> <br />of utility billing equipment and (2) the sum of $179,000.00 (see Council's <br /> <br />minutes of meeting held June 4, 1974) toward the CBD redevelopment project. <br /> <br />Council unanimously agreed to defer, for consideration in Executive Session, <br /> <br />the suggesting of names of citizens to the Judge of Martinsville City <br /> <br />Circuit Court for his consideration in appointing a Real Estate Reappraisal <br /> <br />Equalization Board for the City of Martinsville in connection with the current <br /> <br />quadrennial reassessment of taxable real estate now in process. <br />
