<br />~78 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MAY 28, 1974 <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of City Manager Noland, Council unanimously amended (by ordinance) <br /> <br />the rules and regulations governing the operation of the City's Electric Utility System <br /> <br />by revising subsection "(c)" of Section 2 thereof to reflect and require a new schedule <br /> <br />of electric connection service fees, effective June 18, 1974. <br /> <br />After receiving from City Manager Noland certain comments pertaining to his proposed <br /> <br />1974-75 City Budget, along with several methods of obtaining new and/or additional <br /> <br />revenue required to balance his recommended expenditures for the forthcoming fiscal <br /> <br />year, and after receiving suggestions from several citizens present aimed at reducing <br /> <br />said proposed expenditures whereby no additional or new taxes would be imposed, Council <br /> <br />unanimously agreed to recess meeting herein covered by these minutes to Tuesday, June 4, <br /> <br />1974, 7:30 P. M., Council Chamber, for the purpose of considering the City Manager's <br /> <br />said proposed 1974-75 City Budget. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council authorized City Manager Noland <br /> <br />to publish, as required, the City's intended usage of the $378,000.00 being allocated to <br /> <br />the City from "revenue-sharing" funds for fiscal 1974-75. <br /> <br />Pursuant to agreement entered into (by 1968 resolution) with the Virginia Department of <br /> <br />Highways, Council authorized acceptance (through fee simple conveyance) of right-of-way <br /> <br />acquired by said Department of Highways in connection with construction of the Commonwealth <br /> <br />Boulevard project. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council authorized Assistant City Manager- <br /> <br />Public Works Director George W. Brown to act as agent for the Martinsville Housing Authority <br /> <br />in the obtaining and executing of options for the purchase of properties associated with <br /> <br />the Central Business District redevelopment. <br />
