A machine of the type in question

was brought into the Council Chamber and demonstrated to those present, whereupon it was

agreed that the City Attorney would determine whether existing City Code provisions permit

the issuance of a license for such a device and if he should feel that a Code revision

might be necessary he would submit such proposed ordinance for Council's consideration at

,-

its next meeting.

The City ~funager reported that in connection with the recently-developed nationwide

shortage of gasoline, which had made necessary the closing of most automotive service

stations on Sunday, and similar steps aimed at reducing the amount of gasoline consumed,

there had arisen a problem with respect to gasoline used in city operations. There had been meetings of the City staff and joint meetings

with the staff of Henry County, in order to coordinate conservation measures and City

officials had also attended a meeting sponsored by the County Board of Supervisors, which

meeting was attended by area retail gasoline distributors, for a common discussion of this

new fuel shortage situation. Following a general discussion of the situation, it was felt

that additional City action would not be necessary at this point, but rather there would be

-

close monitoring of the situation as it develops.

The City Manager explained that in April of 1973 he had attended a Regional Seminar, in
