l7(j TUESDAY OCTOBER 23, 1973 March 13, 1973 that its contract with the City (executed April 27, 1971) be extended and enlarged to provide sewer service to a portion of the Beaver Creek watershed area not presently included in said contract and, also, on the Authority's recent inquiry pertaining to the possible sale by the City to the Authority of the City's water system within its Industrial Park. City Man~ger Noland also informed Council that a written request has been filed with the State Water Control Board, and has been acknowledged by same but not acted upon, for an extension of the time limitation recently established by the Board (i.e., October 31, 1973) regarding these negotiations between the City and the PSA, in anticipation of the negotiating parties' inability to meet said "deadline". In connection therewith, subject to formal order therefor, Council tentatively scheduled a special meeting on this matter for Tuesday, October 30, 1973, at 10:00 A. M. Mr. Frank T. Gravely, President of the Patrick Henry Drug Control Council, Inc., appeared before Council and asked that (1) this agency be recognized by Council as the official drug control agency for the community and (2) the Council appropriate and contribute two-sevenths (or $372.50) of the agency's current budgetary needs (being in total of $1,304.00). In his request and presentation, Mr. Gravely cited this non-profit agency's objectives as well as its role in coordinating and implementing the efforts and programs of other agencies involved in this field. Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, and with appreciation expressed to Mr. Gravely and his co-workers for their voluntary efforts and contributions to this cause, Council granted both requests as presented.
