L60 TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 11, 1973 Under date of September 7, 1973, the Planning Commission informed Council that the West Piedmont Planning District Commission has asked for the Planning Commission's comments on a housing study prepared for the West Piedmont District, prior to a public hearing thereon scheduled for early October. The Planning Commission also informed Council that a Land-Use & Housing Plan is being prepared by the City's consulting engineers as a part of a Comprehensive Plan for the City and (that) time does not permit the City Planning Comroission--prior to the WPPDC hearing--to devote adequate study to either of the two plans and, especially, to determine the compatibility of the two plans. Accordingly, the City Planning Commission recommended that Council request the WPPDC to postpone its scheduled early October public hearing at least thirty days. Council unanimously accepted the recommendation and directed that the request for postponement be filed with the WPPDC. Assistant City Manager-Public Works Director George W. Brown, as Chairman of the Special CBD Study Commission, presented to Council a status report on the recently-adopted CBD Plan, noting that the need for updating current City ordinances and/or developing new ordinances, particularly as to zoning-signs- parking requirements, is urgent for an orderly implementation of the adopted CBD Plan. Whereupon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council referred this matter to the Planning Commission with the request that the Commission prepare necessary revisions and develop new ordinances for Council's consideration. In acceptance of City Manager Noland's recommendation, Council adopted a proposed allocation of Federal Revenue-Sharing funds to be received for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1974 in the total amount of $518,016.00 ($287,968.76 being __,"___~"__~,,;~....~~"~~n..~..;'_,"~'_'_'_"""'."_'_.~"~~''''''"""'U__""_,_,....."'_,...._,_~">O--_""_.
