<br />City Manager Noland informed Council that there seems to be no alternative to
<br />
<br />the City's taking over and operating the local public transit system, heretofore
<br />
<br />operated by City Transit, Inc., under agreement with the City; however, as City
<br />
<br />Manager Noland pointed out, there remains a question--which City Attorney Worthy
<br />
<br />is studying--as to whether the City can also assume the operation of charter
<br />
<br />bus service. In any event, City Manager Noland indicated that a full report on
<br />
<br />this entire matter will be prepared for Council, meanwhile requesting that
<br />
<br />interim and necessary expenses of the bus operation be assumed by the City,
<br />
<br />which request Council approved.
