W. Poindexter, <br /> <br />on behalf of Logan Gray, Inc., requesting the rezoning to "P-2 Professional" <br /> <br />of property located at 100 Starling Avenue. <br /> <br />,"-;'- <br /> <br />Upon inquiry by Vice-Mayor Boaz, Assistant City Manager-Public Works Director <br /> <br />George W. Brown presented a status report of the several recreational projects <br /> <br />now in process, in which report was indicated a beginning of construction and <br /> <br />development soon after the forthcoming July 1st of both the Chatham Heights <br /> <br />and West End projects; the amounts of Federal grants applicable thereto--including <br /> <br />the Southside project--for acquisition of lands; and the necessity, at some future <br /> <br />date, of constructing curb-and-gutter for a distance of 150 feet along a street <br /> <br />involved in the Chatham Heights project, in conjunction with the widening of <br /> <br />said street. Council unanimously accepted and concurred in said report and, <br /> <br />furthermore, by motion (which was duly seconded and unanimously carried) authorized <br /> <br />the following land purchases, pursuant to approved appraisals thereof: <br /> <br />(1) from the Martinsville Community Recreation Association, <br />Southside Park property for the sum of $33,170.00; <br /> <br />(2) from the Chatham Heights Baptist Church, land for the Chatham <br />Heights project for the sum of $22,384.00; and <br /> <br />(3) from the DillavdHeirs, land for the Chatham Heights <br />project for the sum of $2,400.00. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council authorized the sale <br /> <br />of 3.498 acres of land within the City's Industrial Park to Glazed Products, Inc., <br /> <br />at a price of $5,000.00 per acre, with the purchaser indicating that it may <br /> <br />wish at some future date to discontinue the Norfolk & Western Railway siding or <br />
