Pursuant to request and recommendation of City Manager Noland and Social Services Superintendent Odell W. Gray, Council authorized the transferring of estimated balances of certain categorical appropriations to other categorical appropriations in order to meet certain needs in those certain accounts which presently have insufficient funds, all with the understanding that this will meet Federal-State requirements and will represent no net increase in cost to the City. By notice dated April 4, 1973, Southwestern Virginia Gas Company informed the City that the gas company is submitting a computation of Purchased Gas Cost Adjustment to the State Corporation Commission for its approval, in order that the gas company may recover an increase--already approved by the Federal Power Commission as of April 1, 1973--of the cost of gas purchased. The gas company also informed the Council that this adjustment represents an increase of 1.6~ per MCF (or 0.16~ per CCF) and will reflect approximately one percent increase on the average residential gas bill. Council referred to the Planning Commission, for its consideration as to required zoning covenants, a petition filed by Mr. Barton Hines and Mr. Lester Bowman, on behalf of 220 Mobile Home Sales, requesting water and sewer connections (service) at this firm's location outside the City's corporate limits, at the intersection of Commonwealth Boulevard and Route 220 North.
