1 f

TUESDAY

APRIL 10, 1973

upon motion, duly seconded, Council accepted the committee's report and recommenda-

tions, with authorization to City Manager Noland to proceed with placing of order

for said five new buses.

'--.

City Manager Noland, along with Mr. Ray Loman of City Transit, pointed out that the

current lack of City Transit operating funds makes it impossible for City Transit

to pay a transmission repair bill, now outstanding in the amount of approximately

$1,100.00; whereupon Council, at the suggestion of the Director of Finance, authorized

the paying of said bill from City funds and charging said cost to City Transit.

In considering a resolution recently adopted by the Henry County Board of Supervisors,

calling for study and evaluation of various phases of the operation of the West

Piedmont Planning District Commission by a committee composed of two representatives

from each member-jurisdiction, Council received from Vice-Mayor Boaz the nomination

of Councilmen Hartford and Lester as the City's members of such a study commission

and, by so doing, indicate Council!s cooperation in this matter with the Henry County

Supervisors. In seconding the nomination, Councilman Lester expressed the opinion

that, three years having elapsed since the organizing of the District Commission,

the time is appropriate for such a study and that the City should cooperate with

the Henry County Supervisors in this venture. At the request of Councilman Hartford,

who indicated that he had not had time to study and consider the Henry County

resolution and desired more time to consider same, the motion and second were with-

drawn with the understanding that this item would be considered again at Council's

next regular meeting.

Council received and referred to the Planning Commission, for consideration and

recommendation, a petition filed by Mr. Frank D. Hairston (on behalf of Frank D.

-------------.

- -----,--..-.--. -"- __.'," _'_m_ '..~
