Brown's recommendation thereon (viz., that, although <br /> <br />the Lampkins bid would appear to be the lowest, the fact that cost of demolition <br /> <br />permit is to be added plus cost of required insurance--for which there is some <br /> <br />question as to ability to obtain--plus the probability that the Lampkins firm <br /> <br />might be unable to complete the project within a reasonable period of time, <br /> <br />and the fact t~at Williams Ready-Mix has adequate equipment and would be able <br /> <br />to complete the project probably within four weeks), Council accepted the bid <br /> <br />of Williams Ready-Mix Concrete: <br /> <br />Bidders <br /> <br />Amounts <br /> <br />Robert S. Martin. <br /> <br />$ 17 , 653 . 00; <br /> <br />Williams-Ready Mix . <br /> <br />8,500.00; and <br /> <br />J. N. Lampkins. . <br /> <br />8,000.00. <br /> <br />In awarding the contract to Williams Ready-Mix, Council stipulated that the <br /> <br />demolition and removal would be completed within a period of twenty-five (25) <br /> <br />working days. <br /> <br />As a prerequisite to applying for Federal funds toward constructing certain <br /> <br />recreational facilitie8~ including the acquisition of lands therefor, Public <br /> <br />Works Director Brown apprised Council of the need for officially adopting a <br /> <br />five-year capital improvements program for such facilities and for officially <br /> <br />adopting the 1967 study report prepared by the National Recreation & Park <br /> <br />Association, as amended. After some discussion, in which the question was <br /> <br />raised by Vice Maypr Boaz, Councilman Hobson, and Recreation Director Herbert <br /> <br />O.Hughes as to priorities assigned to various projects, Council unanimously <br /> <br />adopted the following resolution designed to meet the need hereinabove cited: <br />
